Constraint Puzzle
Game Features
Grid-Cell Direction Puzzle
Each cell on the grid contains an arrow. The player adjusts arrow directions so that following any path from any cell eventually leads to the designated exit.
- Arrows in each cell point in one of four cardinal directions — the player rotates them to change the flow
- Every cell must contribute to a valid path network, not just the cells near the exit
- Some cells are locked and cannot be rotated, acting as fixed constraints the solution must route around
Constraint Propagation Logic
Fixing one arrow's direction often forces the direction of its neighbours. The puzzle resolves through a chain of deductions rather than trial and error.
- Starting from locked cells, the player deduces which neighbouring arrows are forced
- Dead ends — cells that would loop or leave the grid — eliminate candidate directions
- Multiple forced deductions in sequence can solve a large section of the grid at once
Escalating Grid Complexity
Earlier puzzles use small grids with few locked cells. Later levels expand the grid and increase the proportion of free cells, raising the deduction load.
- Small grids allow the player to read the whole puzzle before touching any cell
- Larger grids require tracking multiple partial paths simultaneously
- Difficulty is structural — the same rule set scales by grid size and locked-cell ratio
Single Unique Solution
Each puzzle has exactly one correct arrangement of arrows. Reaching any other configuration leaves at least one cell unreachable from the exit path.
- The uniqueness guarantee means the solution can be found through logic alone
- Incorrect placements produce loops or dead ends that the player can identify and reverse
- No scoring variation — the puzzle is either solved or not
What You Do
Route Arrows to Reach the Exit
Place arrows to build a continuous path from start to exit.
Arrows is a browser logic puzzle in which you place directional arrows on a grid to guide a moving element from its starting cell to a designated exit. Each arrow you place redirects movement when the traveller crosses it, and the puzzle is solved only when the path reaches the goal without looping or falling off the grid.
